Ghanaian comedian Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng, popularly known as Funny Face in the industry space has revealed he went into a period of depression because of the love he has for his children and not because of his love for buttocks.

In the past months, Funny Face had been battling with personal issues in his life that affected his mental health.

This led him into a state of depression that made him verbally assault several personalities and make death threats to his ex-lover and mother of his twins, Vanessa Nicole.

He was subsequently arrested and referred to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital for examination by the Kaneshie District court.

Speaking on HitzFm, the “Swag On Papa” explained that, the extreme love he had for his twins, Ella and Bella, put him in a state of depression. According to him he became extremely attached to them and was not able to control his emotions around the kids. He entered into a state of depression when his children were taken from him.

“Buttocks didn’t take me into depression. The love of my children took me into depression, do you understand? I was so crazy about my daughters to the extent that, when they were crawling and they fall and cry, I cry too. Naturally, I’m emotional…I love people’s kids deeply, how much more my own. And they were twins too”

Kasoa Van Damme also advised people to put their trust in God and not any human. According to him humans have the tendency to fail and disappoint.

He added that, the extreme emotions he had for his kids has reduced and had subsequently changed.

“…and that is the mistake I’d tell people not to do. Never put your trust in humans or anything. Make God your focus, make God the centre of your attraction. When you put your trust in humans and that thing is no more there or when the human disappoints you, it will be difficult to come back…what I am saying is that my trust is in them (his children), but it is not like first. As in like, my emotions, now I am emotionally intelligent. I control my emotions about them, first I could not control it. My emotions were all over the place……so when they were no more with me, I couldn’t take it, I lost it. That’s the matter. And because their toys were in the room, when I see it then I get triggered.”

Funny Face is currently promoting his health walk which will take place from 6 am on Saturday, 8th April 2023, from Dansoman Round About to Bukom Boxing Arena.
