The stage is set for an electrifying musical showdown as the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) gears up to celebrate a silver jubilee of Ghanaian music excellence.

A stellar lineup of artistes including Black Sherif, King Promise, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy are all poised to battle it out for the prestigious ultimate Artiste of the Year title at the award ceremony.

Nominated artistes who have made strides over the year with their music through various collaborations and immaculate lyrical talent and soundwaves include Amaarae, Lasmid, Amerado, KiDi among many others.

However, amidst the anticipation and excitement, a Twitter storm erupted when Ghanaian sensation, Amerado questioned the mysterious absence of his chart-topping hit ‘Kwaku Ananse’ from the TGMA nominations list. Despite dominating the airwaves, the original track failed to secure a single nomination, prompting Amerado to voice his confusion on social media. In response, TGMA Head of Public Events and Communications, Robert Klah, revealed that a petition was sent by the artiste’s camp and is being reviewed by the scheme. He was speaking in an interview on Daybreak Hitz FM.

Mr. Klah further encouraged artistes with concerns over their nominations to speak out during their one-week grace period.

Nevertheless, Amerado’s remix of “Kwaku Ananse” featuring Fameye, along with his track ‘The Hardest’ managed to salvage the situation by clinching two nominations for Best Rap Performance at the 2024 awards launch.

The announcement of the nominees took place on March 28, 2024, at the Grand Arena in Accra, marking a significant moment in the history of the awards. In a major revelation, it was unveiled that Telecel had secured the event’s title sponsorship, leading to the rebranding of the awards as the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), formerly known as the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs). Organized by Charterhouse Productions, the TGMAs continue their tradition of honoring excellence in the Ghanaian music scene, now commemorating 25 years of musical brilliance.

The award ceremony is set to take place on the 1st of June, 2024.
