Popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has reportedly passed away at the age of 40.
Reports indicate that he died in Lagos after allegedly battling kidney cancer. However, the timeline surrounding his death remains unclear. While some outlets report that he died on Monday, May 11, 2026, others suggest he passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. His family is yet to officially address or clarify the circumstances surrounding his death.
Rumours about his health surfaced in 2025 after netizens noticed the actor became inactive on social media since August 2024.
Biography
Alex Ekubo was a Nigerian actor, model, and entertainer who gained recognition after emerging as the first runner-up in the 2010 Mr. Nigeria competition.
Born in Port Harcourt and originally from Abia State, he studied Law at the University of Calabar before pursuing a career in entertainment.
He featured in several Nollywood films and earned praise for his screen presence and versatility, while also receiving recognition for his contributions to the movie industry and humanitarian activities.
