The University of Media Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has launched a new logo following a merger.

In 2019, the government started the procedures to combine the Ghana Institute of Languages, the National Film and Television Institute, and the Ghana Institute of Journalism into one university.

On Monday, December 19, 2022, the Ghana Institute of Journalism’s North Dzorwulu campus in Accra hosted the logo launching ceremony on behalf of UniMAC’s interim Council and Management.

The university’s vice chancellor, Prof. Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo during the ceremony said,  the new logo highlights the university’s originality and displays a dynamic brand.

Today, we’re witnessing a new dawn of a university, with a rich history from different perspectives. Our old logos did a great job for our beginnings but the time has come to move on.

We have developed a comprehensive logo which is reflective of a brand that is more dynamic, and solid and symbolizes the vibrancy of the future we aspire to, as a unit university.

The logo highlights UniMAC’s uniqueness and brings a modern cohesive approach to our existence. An existence that is simultaneously time-honored and contemporary. It also reflects how we want our stakeholders to feel when they think of UniMAC. We want you, our stakeholders to see UniMAC as a strong, vibrant, and modern university that is futuristic.

He also stated the values the new logo represents.

The UniMAC logo, which will be unveiled this morning represents authority, authenticity, passion, trust, reliability, relevance, stability, uniformity, honesty, equity, excitement, and security. It also exhibits a passion for innovation and a common focus on building high-quality and innovative educational systems that make us unique in every way.

Additionally, Prof. Kwamena expressed hope that the new merger will bring positivity and transform academic challenges in the group.

This merger will bring positive transformations in the directions and academic challenges associated with the group, and diversification of the university. I am also confident that both internal and external stakeholders of the university will put their shoulders to the wheel, and commit to their realization of the university’s ambition as we together, seek to provide our students, and by extension, our staff and faculty, a memorable and satisfying teaching and learning experience.
