German ambassador to Ghana, H.E Daniel Krull has indicated plans for German contributions to Ghana’s Ghana Beyond aid agenda.
He was speaking at the Anton Wilhelm Amo Lectures at the Great Hall on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, on the theme “Decolonizing knowledge production in Africa.”
According to the ambassador Ghana beyond aid can be achieved through intensified cooperation between the two countries.
Ghana is for Germany, a very important country in Africa, I always call it the premium partner for our corporation and this refers to the economic corporation, development corporation, and most importantly scientific corporation. When I hear the formula, Ghana beyond aid, in my understanding, a scientific corporation is key in our knowledge-based globalized world knowledge production is key and science plays the key role and this is why I believe Ghana beyond aid is only feasible with the intensified corporation in science and research.
He again commented on Ghana’s scientific cooperation approach.
I think Ghana is very amazing for example, for quite a new approach in the scientific corporation and has become the hub of many important regional networks “MIASA” of course is the icon research network in social science in this regard.
The Ambassador however outlined some measures taken to strengthen the medical sector of Ghana.
From the onset, we have just tried recently to make these approaches in medical science and pandemic prevention research, mathematics, and other fields of research more visible. We call this campaign “the big six” and we were hoping and we have achieved some positive results to trigger more into this disciplinary research approaches through this exercise.
The Anton Wilhelm Amo Lecture is organized annually by MIASA at the University of Ghana. It aims at strengthening the visibility of MIASA on campus and beyond through a high-level annual lecture series, which would be a valued element in the CVs of African scholars in the social sciences and humanities. It is named after the 18th century philosopher from present-day Ghana who taught at the universities of Halle and Jena.
