In the fourth round of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League, fans witnessed a slew of surprising results, as multiple stadiums played host to unexpected twists and turns that have significantly impacted the league’s standings.
Accra Lions roared to a convincing 3-1 win over Nsoatreman FC on Saturday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, with Salman Faris striking first in the 9th minute and Ezekiel Alladoh doubling the advantage just seven minutes later.
Although Nsoatreman’s Abdul Rahman scored a consolation goal in the 47th minute, Blessing Asuman’s 66th-minute strike secured the victory for Accra Lions.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s match between Nations FC and Hearts of Oak at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex ended in a stalemate, with neither team breaking the deadlock in a goalless draw.
Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko played to a 1-1 stalemate at Golden City Park, with Kotoko’s Michael Kyei Dwamena scoring an early opener in the 2nd minute, only for Chelsea’s Zakaria to level the score in the 61st minute, ultimately resulting in a shared points outcome.
Bechem United caused an upset, defeating Dreams FC 1-0 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
Medeama SC handed Basake Holy Stars a 2-1 defeat at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Stadium, with the visitors maintaining their flawless record.
A goalless first half gave way to a Medeama breakthrough in the 58th minute, courtesy of Kamaradini Mamudu.
Holy Stars’ Issah Yakubu equalized shortly after, but Diawisie Taylor’s 63rd-minute strike sealed the win for Medeama, preserving their perfect start to the season.
In a stunning upset, Young Apostles beat two-time champions Aduana FC 3-2 at the Wenchi Sports Stadium, with Rahman Rulf Abdul scoring two crucial goals to secure their first Premier League victory.
Aduana FC’s Mohammed Muftawu and Emmanuel Marfo scored twice, but Abdul’s late brace turned the tide in favor of Young Apostles.
Meanwhile, Kpando Heart of Lions and Bibiani Gold Stars played to a goalless draw at the Kpando Sports Stadium.
Legon Cities suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Karela United at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, with Giyasu Ibrahim and Muhammed Hadi scoring in the 14th and 88th minutes, respectively, leaving Legon Cities winless after four matches.
In the concluding match, FC Samartex edged Vision FC 2-1 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, thanks to an own goal by Edward Agyemang and a 92nd-minute winner from Michael Ephson, which secured the win for the Timber giants despite a late challenge from Vision FC.
