Ghana Girls Connect hosted its annual Ten Thousand summit in Maryland, USA, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, bringing together women from across industries to discuss creativity, purpose and community.

Under the theme “Creativity: What’s In Your Hands?”, participants were encouraged to view creativity not as a rare gift, but as a practical tool applied in problem-solving, leadership and innovation. The event focused on engagement, reflection and shared experiences among attendees.

Voices from the Panel

The summit featured a panel discussion as its central session, moderated by Ama Osei, a nurse and content creator, and focused on themes of identity, creativity and purpose.

Speakers included New York-based beauty and lifestyle creator Shawna Agye; Amina Aminu, a beauty and lifestyle creator, storyteller and creative entrepreneur; Dewa Salau, a creative, worship leader and communicator; Jessica Danso, a multi-business owner; and Ayeyi Aboagye, a digital content creator.

They reflected on their personal and professional journeys, with several highlighting how creativity is often recognised by others before individuals fully embrace it themselves.

Amina Aminu said her creativity had been evident from an early age, recalling how her mother consistently affirmed her abilities.

Jessica Danso shared a similar experience, noting that she only began to recognise her creativity after others pointed it out. “I feel like I didn’t really know it until I started hearing people around me tell me,” she said.

For most of the speakers, creativity extends beyond traditional artistic expression, pointing to its role in everyday problem-solving, leadership and decision-making.

Background

Founded seven years ago, Ghana Girls Connect was established to create spaces for women to connect, grow and reflect on their potential. Its founder and executive president, Bridgette Manful, said the initiative was driven by a desire to support women at different stages of their personal and professional journeys.

Ten Thousand has since become one of the organisation’s flagship initiatives, bringing together women building careers, businesses and ideas to exchange experiences and learn from one another.

This year, the summit reinforced a broader message around creativity and personal development, highlighting the importance of recognising and applying existing skills and ideas in everyday life.
