Academic Quality Assurance Directorate of the University of Ghana (AQAD) is urging students to visit the Course and Lecturer Evaluation (CLE) Portal for the First Semester of the 2023/2024 academic year to ensure quality control in teaching and learning practices in the university.

Prof. Twerefour and Prof. Bernard on CampEx.

Speaking on Campus Exclusive, AQAD Director, Prof. Daniel Kwabena Kyerefour elaborated on how the exercise is critical to the review of teaching practices and provides a platform for students to air their views on challenges they encounter in class.

” As lecturers, we are teaching you and we are imparting knowledge. It is good we get feedback from you to see whether what we are doing is really achieving the result. Is it a point that we are teaching you don’t understand? Is it a point that our slides are not visible? Is it a point that when you talk to us, we don’t hear? We need feedback from you.”

“And the feedback has got two sort of importance. One, to guide us to streamline and do things better, that is to improve on our performance. And two, for management to know what is happening in the classroom. This helps us to advise faculty members.”

Assistant Registrar at the AQAD, Dr. Bernard Kofi Eghan counselled students to be objective in their evaluation of lecturers rather than been sentimental.

” I would also want to encourage students to look at this exercise objectively and they should not be sentimental or emotional about it. The fact that may have some issues with a particular lecturer does not mean you should assess the lecturer in a negative way. Remember that whatever form of assessment you make of a lecturer reflects what happens in class. ”

“Lecturers are going to use this the outcome of the CLE report in their promotion endeavors. So, if you don’t do so objectively to for us know how they are delivering, the genuine outcome will not be yielded. And that wouldn’t auger well for quality. “

Prof. Kyerefour further revealed that the deadline for course and lecturer evaluation will be extended due to few technical hitches which occurred on Monday, January 8.
