The University of Ghana Chapter of the University Teachers Association (UG -UTAG), have donated some 25 pieces of laptops, to support the “One Student, One Laptop” initiative, being flagged by the office of the Vice Chancellor for the University.
President for UG -UTAG, Dr. Samuel Nkumban, who donated the laptops on behalf of the association believes that the move will ensure that students graduate with the requisite technological know-how, needed in the job market.
“We succeeded in getting 25 pieces of laptops to present to the Vice Chancellor in support of the noble this noble idea and we are hoping that God will continue to enable us raise some more support either in the form of laptops to support the 1S1L or other initiatives in a manner that is possible for UTAG to be a part of”.
The ‘One Student One Laptop Initiative’ seeks to employ innovative mechanisms to equip students and staff of the University with affordable and free laptops/handheld devices through partnerships with established Information Technology (IT) companies to enhance teaching and learning and reduce the digital divide.
In line with this objective, the project has been designed to explore mechanisms and channels that would help secure free laptops for students who cannot afford them.
