‎The General Assembly of the University of Ghana has approved the results submitted by the Electoral Commission Vetting Committee, officially clearing three students to serve as the Electoral Commissioners for the 2025/2026 SRC elections.

‎A report signed by the Vetting Committee Chairperson Micah Cudjoe, indicated that 18 nominations were received when applications opened on Tuesday, July 1, and closed on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Four applications were declared invalid — three from Level 100 students and one from a Level 400 student — for failing to meet the eligibility requirements under Article 34, Clause 1 of the SRC Constitution.

‎Following academic verification by the Office of the Dean of Students, another applicant was disqualified for not meeting the minimum CGPA requirement of 3.0, reducing the qualified list to 13.

‎Vetting was held on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the SRC Union Building. Although one panel member was absent due to health reasons, the remaining six proceeded with the process. Twelve out of the 13 eligible applicants appeared before the panel. The session ran from 2:32 p.m. to 6:34 p.m.

‎The exercise was observed by some General Assembly members as well as media representatives from Radio Univers.

‎At the end of the vetting, the following three candidates emerged as the top scorers:

‎1. Nana Mensah Bonsu – 517 points (86.2%)

‎2. Gertrude Essah-Mensah – 441 points (73.5%)

‎3. Godfred Fynn Acquah – 386 points (64.3%)

‎They have since been approved as Electoral Commissioners for the 2025/2026 SRC election cycle and will be responsible for overseeing the fairness, transparency, and integrity of the entire electoral process.

‎An official handover is expected in coming days. Further updates will follow when electoral calendar is released.
