Public Relations Officer of the Electoral Commission for the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Daniel Asare has assured students and stakeholders of a peaceful election in the union’s upcoming congress elections.
He was speaking on Campus Exclusive, on the congress election of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS).
He was shedding light on the preparations being undertaken to ensure a smooth electoral process.
‘’We have reflected on what we have had the years been. Problems we have had as a union when going into an election. And that we at the end of the electoral commission are making sure that those problems do not occur again. I can say is we are on course.’’
He conceded that one of the major challenges the electoral commission faced is the compilation of the voter register.
However, the commission is working tirelessly to improve on this challenge by introducing a proper verification system to ensure anyone who is to vote is a confirmed delegate.
‘’For the first time in the history of the union, we are going to have a verification system that will verify members before they even get the opportunity to cast their ballot. It is supposed to check that each and every person going in there to cast their ballot is eligible to vote. On that note, we have compiled a register we are going to use.’’
Regarding security during and after the elections, Daniel Asare said there would be adequate security personnel on the grounds. However, there would be no militarization to scare away delegates.
‘’We have a lot of people who are going to contest for a position and seeing militarization of the whole process where we have the national security might scare delegates away.’’
He assured students and stakeholders that there will be security during the process to ensure peaceful elections.
‘’We are not going to have security men come in there and frustrate the people. We are going to have the security men come in there and make sure that the systems are running and such that no one is going to do away with some form of illegalities.’’
The National Union of Ghana Students’ Congress election is scheduled to kick start on Wednesday, 5th July, and end on Sunday 9th July 2023 at the University of Cape Coast.
The primary objective of the election is to elect national Executives who will lead the union.

This is fantastic because on the week-ends, you will be far more rested plus concentrated on school work. Many thanks for the different suggestions I have learned from your weblog.
