5 Min Read

At halfway mark of the University of Ghana Corporate Football League 2025, the tournament has already delivered top-tier football, dramatic storylines, and a tightly contested race in both Group A and Group B. With a two-week break on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to assess who’s flying, who’s flailing, and what to expect heading into the second half.

Overall Tournament Statistics

Total Goals Scored: 64 goals

Total Yellow Cards: 73

Total Red Cards: 5

Overall goal scorer – Emmanuel Arthur (Union) – 7 goals

GROUP A: A Tightly Packed Power Struggle

Group A Overview

Total Goals Scored: 30 goals

Total Red cards – 4

Total Yellow Cards: 35

Top Scorer (Group A): Emmanuel Arthur (Union Ghana) – 7 goals

Group A has been a rollercoaster of results, with Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club (G.A.F.O.S.C.) asserting dominance at the summit. With 10 points from 4 matches and a solid +5 goal difference, they’ve combined defensive grit with attacking flair to become title contenders.

Hot on their heels is Union Ghana, unbeaten with a game in hand. They’ve been ruthless in front of goal, racking 9 goals in just 3 games, the most prolific attack in the group so far. The results of their outstanding game against GNPC could determine if they move to the top of the table or Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club (G.A.F.O.S.C) maintains their position on the table.

College of Health Sciences (C.H.S.) and College of Basic and Applied Sciences (C.B.A.S.) occupy third and fourth, respectively, both showing promise but needing consistency to break into the top two.

GNPC and College of Humanities (C.O.H.) sit in mid-table purgatory—dangerous yet inconsistent. Both teams will need a stronger second half to break into the elite tier.

At the bottom, Ghana Football Association, College of Education (C.O.E.) and Telecel Ghana have had a rough ride. Telecel, especially, has struggled with just two points from five games and a -6-goal difference. Time is running out for them to spark a revival.

GROUP B: Too Close to Call

Group B Overview

Total Goals Scored: 34 goals

Total Red cards – 1

Total Yellow Cards: 38

Top Scorer (Group B): Harry Lomoko (Forestry Commission) – 4 goals and Prince Underson (NPA) – 4 goals

If Group A is intense, Group B is pure chaos—in the best way.

Lancaster Accra sits at the top of Group B Table with 7points, tied with Ghana Civil Aviation Authority but better goal difference. National Petroleum Agency (NPA) follows with 6points. Lancaster has been clinical with 2 wins and a draw in 3 games, while NPA boasts the best goal difference of four (4) in the group thanks to a sharp attack and tight defense.

Forestry Commission and Central Admin lurk close behind with 5 points each, proving there’s little margin for error in this group.

It’s been a mixed bag for Media General, Bui Power Authority, and Stanbic Bank, who all need to find consistency or risk being cut adrift. Zenith Bank, meanwhile, finds itself at the bottom with a single point and a goal difference of -1. They need a statement win after the break.

Mid-Season MVP Shouts

Union Ghana’s attack – Most goals in the fewest matches. Efficient and ruthless.

G.A.F.O.S.C.’s defense – Just one goal conceded in four games. Fortress.

NPA’s balance – Strong on both ends of the pitch with a +4 GD in just 3 matches.

Looking Ahead

The second part of the league resumes on Friday May 2nd at the University of Ghana Stadium from 5pm. Expect teams to return refreshed, with tactical tweaks and maybe even new stars stepping up. The second half promises tighter races, unexpected twists, and dramatic finishes.
