UGBS reacts to student’s death, lists steps to address security issues

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) management has reacted to the death of one of its master students following his demise due to a road accident on the UG-UPSA stretch.

extends condolences to the family and loved ones of the late student, Mr. Dennis Twumasi-Ankrah.

The deceased, Dennis Twumasi-Ankrah was a student at the UGBS who read the MSC Procurement and Supply Chain (weekend) programme; he lost his life on the 21st of November after an alleged robbery attack, from which he was pushed onto the busy road after resisting the attack.  The police are still investigating the cause of his death and will update the general public upon receipt of the police report.

In a statement, the UGBS Management expressed their condolences to the late student’s family, further requesting the public to desist making false claims around his death.

“The management of the UGBS has taken note of the sad and regrettable incident of the passing of our student Mr. Dennis Twumasi-Ankrah. Dennis was a Student in our MSc Procurement and
Supply Chain (weekend) programme. We extend our deepest condolence to his family and loved ones. We caution the public to desist from peddling unsubstantiated claims about the cause of his
death. The police are still investigating the cause of his death and we will update the general public upon receipt of the police report.”

In a social media post, the Dean of UGBS, Prof. Justice N. Bawole shared some of the safety precautions the school would implement for its students to avert similar incidents from recurring.

“1. Shuttle buses will be provided at night to bring all students from UGBS graduate campus to main campus after lectures for onwards commuting.

2. Signs will be provided to warn students of the dangers of lone-ranging at night along the stretch.

3. Regular security patrols with [Ghana Police Service personnel].”

The father of the deceased, Mr. Twumasi-Ankrah had preciously confirmed the death of his son, where he narrated the turn of events leading to his ward’s demise. He concluded by revealing that the corpse of his kin is yet to undergo autopsy as part of certain post-mortem prcedures.
