The Ministry of Energy has reacted to widespread concerns from the general public over the disturbing rate at which lights go off in parts of the country for sustained periods of time in recent weeks.
Speaking in an interaction with journalists, on Monday, April 28, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Isaac Agyei Kwakye intimated that recent power outages observed in the country are due to isolated technical issues, and faulty transmission cables and not a sign of power generation challenges.
” There is no “dumsor”. There is nothing like “dumsor” and “dumsor” is not back.
There have been isolated cases. I live in Madina and I can tell you I do not remember the last time I slept in darkness”, he emphasized.
What it means is that the cables there are not faulty”.
He cited some examples of places like Coco Beach and parts of Nungua, where localized faults led to intermittent power outages.
He added that further checks by Engineers and staff of the Ministry showed that some parts of those communities were having power whilst the situation persisted in a few isolated areas which was due to challenges with power infrastructure in those areas.
Mr Kwakye further revealed that there is an active duty schedule by the Ministry and its key stakeholders to guarantee stable and reliable power supply to all parts of the country.
