The University of Ghana is encouraging students affected by the June 2025 sanctions to take advantage of free and confidential counselling services offered by the University of Ghana Careers and Counselling Directorate (UGCCD).
This follows the release of a list on June 16, detailing sanctions against 115 students for various offenses, including examination malpractices and disobedience of university authority. It is the second round of such disciplinary action in the 2024/2025 academic year.
In a notice issued by the Academic Affairs Directorate, the University acknowledged the potential emotional and psychological toll of the sanctions on affected students. The statement reiterated the University’s commitment to upholding academic integrity while safeguarding the overall well-being of its students.
The UGCCD is offering free psycho-social counselling services, which include support for managing stress, depression, and a range of personal, academic, and behavioural challenges.
According to the notice, affected students who wish to access support are encouraged to contact the UGCCD via email at careers@ug.edu.gh or call 0245 945 752 to schedule a private session.
The university described the decision to seek counselling as a proactive step in navigating difficult periods and assured students that all sessions will be handled with strict confidentiality.
