Ambassador for climate change and rapper, Kwame Nsiah Apau popularly by his stage name Okyeame Kwame has disclosed details about one of the tracks from his forthcoming album scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2024, which is aimed at addressing climate issues.

The song, which is to be titled ‘No Way Out’ tells the story of how a tree metamorphoses into a doll and is thrown away when the girl who got it grew up.

“We are working on a song, the song is called ‘No Way Out‘. It’s on my album coming out maybe the first quarter of next time. So watch out for it. It’s a song about a tree that ends up as a doll when the girl who got it grew up.”

Okyeame Kwame unveiled his aspiration to unite artists for climate change advocacy. This dream, which he conceived about four years ago, has been temporarily set aside due to his demanding schedule. However, the urgency of climate advocacy has reignited his passion for this collaborative initiative.

“You see, other artists are advocating for other trajectories, and I am advocating for climate, About four years ago. I wanted to do Artists Unite for Climate Change, but I’ve not been able to do it because I have been busy, The thing is this advocacy work is also about interest, you know, so even though it’s important for us to catch their interest They must choose which of the fights that they want to win. They must choose, they want to do climate change, they must choose it or can choose to advocate for something else.”

He recognized artists as natural leaders, and acknowledged the challenge of rallying them behind a single cause, but he expressed optimism that one of them would find the climate change advocacy compelling enough to join forces.

“The artists are leaders It is difficult for you to call them to follow you You know because they want to lead in a certain direction so I’m just praying that one of them will find what I’m doing exciting Until I have the time to catch their interest and join us but before then they must choose So let’s bring it down to students.”

In a strategic move to make this dream a reality, Okyeame Kwame has set his sights on students, proposing an inspiring collaboration with the School of Performing Arts at University of Ghana.

To him, idea is not merely to educate but to create a fusion of artistic expression and climate change advocacy through theater. He is confident that combining theater, advocacy, and music could yield powerful results.

“I have performed some shows with the school of performing in the University of acts in the past. I did a versatile show with them, we used it to create awareness and it worked well. Yes, we can combine theatre, advocacy, and music.”
