KNUST Alum files injunction to halt VC, Prof. Dickson’s term extension, cites illegalities

A graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has filed an interim injunction against the extension of Professor Akosua Dickson’s term as the university’s Vice-Chancellor.

The legal action follows the reappointment of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) Dickson for another term of 2 years. The reappointment was announced on 20th june, 2024, via the University Registrar, Ansah Boateng, with her renewed term to take effect from August 1st, 2024 to July 31, 2026.

In a notice dated July 16, the plaintiff, Kofi Clement Ohene Asare was of the view that the term renewal violated the university’s regulations, based on the Council’s approach to the matter.
