Ghanaian media personality Kofi Adoma Nwanwani has voiced his frustration with the Ghana Police Service, accusing them of neglecting his case while prioritizing justice for other victims who tragically lost their lives.
This comes in the wake of his near-fatal experience during a festival in Dormaa Ahenkro, where he was shot in the eye under circumstances that remain unclear. For the first time since the incident, Kofi Adoma has spoken publicly about his ordeal, shedding light on what he describes as a lack of attention from the authorities regarding his case.
In an emotional statement to the press on March 13th, the journalist revealed that he was initially advised to keep the matter private due to its sensitive nature. However, he was also informed that the gravity of the situation warranted immediate reports to both the Dormaa Ahenkro King and the police. Despite taking the necessary steps to file an official complaint, he claims that no significant action has been taken regarding his case, unlike that of the deceased victims, whose alleged perpetrators have been arrested.
“I was told that my situation was highly sensitive and should not be made public too soon. However, I was also informed that the case was serious and needed to be reported to the Dormaa Ahenkro King, as well as formally lodged with the police. To this day, while justice has been served for those who lost their lives— with their suspects apprehended— those of us who survived have been left neglected. It’s heartbreaking, and I wouldn’t wish this experience on even my worst enemy,” Kofi Adoma lamented.
His remarks have sparked conversations about the justice system’s handling of cases involving survivors of violent incidents. Many are questioning why his case has seemingly been sidelined despite its severity.
Kofi Adoma is widely known for his fearless journalism and has, in the past, reported on several high-profile cases. His latest statement raises concerns about the selective prioritization of justice in Ghana and whether authorities are doing enough to protect both the deceased and survivors of violent crimes.
As he continues to seek justice, it remains to be seen whether the Ghana Police Service will take renewed interest in his case and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
