Former UGSRC President Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly known as Guru, has revealed that some students at the University of Ghana attempted to sabotage the Artiste Night of the 67th UGSRC Week Celebration.
Speaking live on his TikTok handle on October 14, 2025, the former president alleged that certain students went behind his back to convince artistes he had already contacted not to honour his invitation to perform.
He expressed disappointment over the act, noting that the SRC budget for the celebration was insufficient to book many artistes, and that several had agreed to perform for free because of their relationship with him.
“I struggled to bring artistes to perform for free. These same people went to tell the artistes that I was lying — that I had collected money for them and was swindling them. Others also went behind my back to tell the event organiser to pull out, claiming he would run at a loss if he invested in it,” he recounted.
Guru further urged students to show respect and appreciation toward their leaders, emphasising that leadership thrives on mutual respect and support.
“We shouldn’t behave this way. It’s unacceptable. Approach people with respect. If you don’t respect those leading you, no one will respect you. Do you think leading the whole University of Ghana is a joke?” he said angrily.
His comments come after several students described the 67th UGSRC Week celebrations as a flop.
