The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has released the approved fees and charges to be applied by the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The announcement seeks to resolve ongoing discussions surrounding the University’s billing schedule, which reportedly saw a 25% increase from the previous academic year.
In a letter dated January 12, 2026, GTEC, communicating on behalf of the Minister of Education, outlined the approved fee structure for the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year.
“Academic Facility User Fees are to be pegged at the 2024/2025 rate. Student Representative Council (SRC) dues are set at GH¢50, while the SRC Development Levy has been fixed at GH¢150. The Graduate Students Development Levy is GH¢250. A Telecel broadband levy of GH¢122 applies across all undergraduate levels, including freshmen. This levy should be treated as optional, and students must be properly informed of their right to opt out if they so choose. Additionally, a 75th Anniversary Levy of GH¢100 has been approved, with GTEC noting that the fee must not be charged beyond the 2025/2026 academic year,” the letter stated.
The Commission expressed hope that the updated fee schedule would address concerns surrounding the University’s fees for the 2025/2026 academic year and called for the cooperation of all relevant stakeholders.
