President John Dramani Mahama has nominated four Members of Parliament for deputy ministerial positions. They are: Grace Ayensu-Danquah (Health), Dorcas Affo-Toffey (Transport), Adamu Sukparu (Communications and Digital Innovation), and James Gyakye-Quayson (Foreign Affairs).

These latest nominations bring the total number of ministers in the Mahama administration to 60, fulfilling a key campaign promise made during the 2024 electioneering period. President Mahama had pledged to reduce the size of government after criticising the previous Akufo-Addo administration for running what he described as a bloated government with over 120 ministers.

It is expected that formal communication on the nominations will be submitted to Parliament in the coming weeks for vetting by the Appointments Committee and subsequent approval. Upon approval, the nominees will assist their respective substantive ministers in implementing the government’s core policies and programmes.

The constituencies represented in the latest nominations are Sissala West, Jomoro, Essikado-Ketan, and Assin North.

Since the Mahama-led administration took office on January 7 this year, there has been a palpable groundswell of public support for its governance direction.
