The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League served up an electrifying set of matches, with some teams rising to the occasion and producing outstanding displays, while others defied expectations and fell short of predictions.
Asante Kotoko return to winning ways in the Ghana premier League following their 2-0 win over Aduana FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday, ending their four game winless run. Kotoko’s Patrick Asiedu opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a stunning free-kick. Albert Amoah who came back from an injury lay off doubled the lead on the hour mark with a well composed finish.
FC Samartex’s struggles continued as Basake Holy Stars earned a hard-fought 1-0 home win at CAM Park. Prince Tweneboah scored on the stroke of the first half to deliver maximum points for the Aiyinase-based side.
Bibiani Gold Stars moved back to the top of the table after a 2-0 win over Vision FC at Dun’s Park on Sunday. Samuel Atta Kumi’s brace gave the Miners a one-point lead atop the standings after Nations FC slipped up at home.
Nations FC suffered their first-ever home defeat in the Ghana Premier League since their promotion from the second-tier, after losing 1-0 against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.
The Abrankese-based side had gone 22 matches unbeaten prior to this game, winning 12 and drawing 10.
Medeama SC maintained their decent away form after beating Young Apostles 2-0 at the Wenchi Stadium on Sunday. Derrick Fordjour opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a clinical finish, taking his tally to three goals this season. Prince Owusu doubled the lead in the 56th minute, recording a vital three points for the visitors.
Bechem United continued their resurgence- winning three matches in a row- after beating Accra Lions 1-0 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabuor Park on Sunday. Isaiah Nyarko’s only goal in the game was enough for the Hunters to secure maximum points from the Premier League strugglers.
Heart of Lions cruised to a 3-0 victory over Legon Cities at home on Sunday, extending their unbeaten run to five games and climbing to third place for the first time this season. Goals from Kwame Obeng Jnr, Mustapha Yakubu and Nana Kwame Oppong handed Lions another impressive win at the Kpando Stadium.
Bechem United defeated Accra Lions FC 1-0 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday to pile pressure on coach Ibrahim Tanko.
Adomako Boateng’s own goal handed Lions another defeat on the road.
Visiting Nsoatreman FC on Saturday held Accra Hearts of Oak to an exciting 1-1 drawn game in their Ghana Premier League Match Day 12 clash played under the lights at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.
Stephen Diyou blasted home the leader from inside the box, beating goalkeeper Benjamin Asare after a short corner.
Exactly four minutes after going down, Hearts fans found their singing voices when their midfielder, Salim Adams, smashed home a free kick from about 35 yards to beat Ferdinand Sabi Acquah in the post for Nsoatreman.
