The Law Students Association of the Ghana Institute for Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has held a day’s internship clinic for its members on campus.
The event which was held on 27th April,2023 at the Dr. Daniel Mckorley Moot Court of the GIMPA Law Faculty was earmarked as a program to provide Law students with hands on experience in the legal profession in addition to the classroom work.
Furthermore, it will provide the students of the Faculty with practical knowledge about how to gain internships ,and most importantly , what type of interns the legal departments of firms and companies are scouting for.
” At the end of the internship clinic, students should have gained a comprehensive understanding of the legal profession and its various roles ,as well as practical skills and experience that will prepare them for future legal careers . The programme will seek to provide opportunities for continuous professional development for all members”, parts of the concept note read.
The students were taken through a series of activities involving the basic rudiments of law practice, how the various facets of law as a body of knowledge interact with one another and also how to merge both theory and practice to get a full experience ,once the students get enrolled into the professional law course .
The well attended event which drew large participation from the student body and a number of firms including B&P Associates, Lawyers & Consultants and Ayine & Partners and others will be replicated annually.
The GIMPA Law Students Association is a body established with the core objective of protecting and advancing the academic ,career, and social interest of every student admitted into the GIMPA Law Faculty and any other student of GIMPA registered as an associate member of the LSA as prescribed in its constitution.
