Ghana’s immediate past Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has arrived in Mecca with his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, and an entourage to perform Umrah, the Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city.
Dr. Bawumia shared that the journey is an expression of gratitude to Almighty Allah for His grace and blessings.
Together with his wife and close friends, the pilgrimage also provided an opportunity to pray for continued guidance and protection for themselves and the nation of Ghana.
This spiritual exercise reflects Dr. Bawumia’s deep faith and commitment to seeking divine favour for the country as it navigates its path forward.
The trip to the Holy City comes barely 48 hours after the Akuffo Addo led government handed over power to the Mahama led administration after Elections held on December 7 , where the NDC won convincingly with over 50% of the popular votes .
