Former President Kufuor credits late Dr. Sidick Ahmed’s role in building his public image

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has revealed that the late former Station Manager of Radio Univers, Dr. Alhaji Abubakari Sidick Ahmed, played a significant role in enhancing his public acceptance during his political journey.

He made this revelation when the family of the late former Station Manager paid a courtesy visit to him at his residence to formally announce Alhaji’s final funeral rites scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Madina.

According to the former President, the numerous interview opportunities granted to him by the late Dr. Sidick Ahmed greatly contributed to shaping his public image.

“The way he set up his FM station, and the way he related with me, invited me to be interviewed from time to time on that station, added up to increasing my public acceptance throughout the country,” he said.

Reflecting on the life of the late former Station Manager, the former President described him as a man committed to good deeds, noting that his legacy continues to offer comfort despite his passing.

“Although he is gone, we are consoled by his good works,” the former President stated.

He further expressed gratitude to the bereaved family for the visit and the respect shown in formally notifying him about the funeral arrangements. While indicating that he may not be present in person on the day of the ceremony, the former President assured the family that he would be duly represented.

“I’m with the bereaved family in mourning my friend, and also praying that the Almighty would receive him well into his abode. So, I want to thank you for coming to inform me, and also to invite me,” he concluded.

The late Dr. Abubakari Sidick Ahmed is widely remembered for his contributions to campus broadcasting and media development, particularly through his leadership at Radio Univers.

His final funeral rites are expected to draw family, friends, media practitioners and members of the public who were impacted by his work and shaped by his legacy.
