The family of the late former Station Manager of Radio Univers, Dr. Alhaji Abubakari Sidick Ahmed, has paid a courtesy visit to former President, John Agyekum Kufuor, to formally inform him of the passing of the former Station Manager and to announce the 40-day Duaa scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2026 at his residence in Madina.

During the visit, former President John Agyekum Kufuor recounted how the late Dr. Abubakari Sidick Ahmed supported his political journey by providing him with numerous interview opportunities that greatly contributed to his public image.

“He used the FM station to assist me. You know, politicians, we need mouthpieces and so Radio Univers was like a favourite outpost for me. At the slightest opportunity, he would call me to come, and then, interview me.”

The former President also reflected on his long-standing friendship with the late Dr. Abubakari Sidick Ahmed over the years, recalling a recent visit earlier this year before his passing on Monday, February 16, 2026.

“He was my friend for quite a long time. I think we were friends even before he left during his postgraduate studies—and even when he came back, the friendship continued. Even early this year, he came visiting. I didn’t know he was unwell.”

The courtesy visit was led by a delegation of his immediate family and high-ranking members of the Muslim community. Among them were the Madina Dagomba Chief, Chief Abdullahi Issa Munkaila; the Imam of the Legon Central Mosque, Imam Abubakari Baba; the Head of Department of Marketing at UGBS, Prof. Mahmoud A. Mahmoud; the family spokesman, Alhaji Mahmud Dantani Kassim; the Special Assistant to the Madina Zongo Chief, Rashid Osman; and brothers of the late Station Manager, Abdul Rashid Ahmed, Ahmed Abdul Raif, and Adam Majeed Babatu.
