Jordan Ayew produced a scintillating performance at Selhurst park yesterday to aid Crystal Palace secure all 3 points, giving the Eagles the perfect start to life under new boss Oliver Glatier.

On Monday, Roy Hodgson, who has long been a faithful servant of English football, oversaw his last game for the Eagles at Goodison Park.

Hodgson managed 17 clubs and four national teams in a 48-year career, accumulating 416 premier league games under his belt.

The veteran manager parted ways with Palace after being in charge of the club for a short stint, replacing the dismissed Patrick Viera in March 2023.

The Eagles board then appointed Austrian gaffer David Glatier in his stead, enjoying a remarkable 3-0 win over Burnely in his first game with the team, of which Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew took center stage.

Ayew provided a quick-fire goal and assist within the span of three minutes; Ayew teed up center back Chris Richards with a lovely cross on the 68th minute, before steadying himself to tuck in a low Matheus Franca cross at the far post into a gaping goal 3 minutes later.

Jean-Philippe Mateta put the results beyond doubt with a beautifully dispatched spot kick to deepen the wounds of the Clarets.

Jordan Ayew’s goal and assist against Burnely means the forward has now reached a career high of 60 goal involvements in the premier league, enjoying his best goal-scoring output for Crystal Palace since the 2019/20 season where he had eleven involvements.

Although an integral member of the underwhelming Black Stars team that featured at the African Cup of Nations, Jordan has found his rhythm at his club, having contributed to ten goals and assists, the most of any Palace player in the premier league.

Jordan is a goal shy of equalling his best run of form in front of goal— goal and assist.

A goal for Palace in their next game against London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs will equal his best returns since the 2019/2020 season.

Crystal Palace are now up to 13th on the league log with 28 points.
