Bolgatanga Technical University Deputy Registrar dies from fatal shooting

Deputy Registrar at the Bolgatanga Technical University, Mr. Alhassan Azumah, was fatally shot by unidentified assailants at his residence in Bolgatanga.

According to sources close to the family, he was attacked by unknown individuals riding a motorcycle and sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Azumah, a Kusasi from Bawku, resided in Sokabiisi, Bolgatanga Municipality, in the Upper East Region where the incident occurred.

News sources revealed that the Deputy Registrar was shot on the evening of Wednesday, January 17, while burning rubbish around his house.

Having recently been promoted from Director of Public Affairs to Deputy Registrar, Azumah’s untimely death was confirmed by Professor Samuel Erasmus Alnaa, the Vice Chancellor of the University.

Prof. Alnaa stated that the university’s management had no information regarding the circumstances leading to the shooting.

“We heard he was shot at his residence, but we don’t know who shot him and we don’t know what triggered it.”

According to further reports, the deceased has been laid to rest following Islamic traditions.
