The Office of the UGSRC General Secretary, is set to organise a debut program dubbed “Getting it right from Scratch; sn insightful beginning to embrace a greater future.”

The event would take place at the R.S Amegashie Auditorium in the University of Ghana Business School on the 3rd of February, 2023, at 11:00 am.

In an exclusive interview on The Ladies’ Point, the UGSRC General Secretary, Emmanuella Boakye Yiadom mentioned that the programme was designed primarily for freshmen, however continuing students are welcomed to participate.

“They should get it right. Things like relationship, like academics, their social life, everything life. Because there are a lot of misconceptions about tertiary education especially Legon. People believe that legon is grounds for fun, then [they] get here and [they] see seriousness at work. What happens if the person never gets it right? Get it right, on your relationships, get it right focusing on your academics, get it right combining extracurricular activities with your academics and get it right, so far as tertiary [education] and the University of Ghana is concerned. “

Emmanuella Yiadom explained that the event was set to give freshers a head start in all aspects of University life.

She noted that most students come to the university with the intention of having fun only to realize that the atmosphere is academic bias.

According to her, the help of God and the guidance of mentors has helped her manage her University life successfully and wishes same for others especially, level 100 students.

“I got it right because I seeked the guidance of God. But that was not all. I used to attend programmes; there were a lot of mentors coming around, sharing their experiences and I bought into those ideas. I feel I got it right with the combination of seeking God’s help and attending seminars and programmes that shaped my thoughts. “

The event will be graced by Hon. Lydia Alhassan Seyram, (Member of Parliament for Ayawaso west Wougon), Prof. Rosina Kyeremanteng, (Dean of Student Affairs, UG), Prof. Godfred Bopkin (Former Dean of Student Affairs), Ms Louisa Atta-Agyemang, (Chairperson, Democrat union of Africa), George Sarpong, (Ministry of Information), and Dennis Appiah Larbi, (NUGS President).
