Residents of Commonwealth hall at the University of Ghana are lamenting  severe water crisis that has plagued the hall for the past few days.

The crisis, which reportedly began last Saturday, has become the main topic of discussion among students, raising serious concerns. It is now a common sight to see students moving from block to block with buckets in hand, while queues at the washrooms continue to grow by the day.

Speaking to Univers News, some residents expressed their frustration and urged hall management to take immediate action to resolve the situation.

“For me, the water shortage has led to unnecessary expenses. When water was flowing regularly, we could use it for washing dishes, bathing, and brushing our teeth. But now, if you want to brush your teeth or wash your dishes, you have to buy sachet water. This is wasting our money,” one student lamented.

“The situation is really bad. For the past four days, getting water has been a struggle, and even when you go searching for it, there’s no guarantee you’ll find any. We are students, and we work with time. If you’re late for lectures, you’ll be sacked. Personally, on Monday, I was sent out of my 7:30 a.m. lecture because I was late, and that was because I couldn’t fetch water in time. Since this issue started, management has not communicated anything to us. We need them to address us and fix the problem as soon as possible.”

Residents are calling on hall authorities to take urgent action to restore water supply and provide updates on efforts to resolve the crisis.
