The Electoral Commission (EC) has urged Ghanaians to support its efforts in ensuring credible and transparent elections amid ongoing disputes regarding the re-collation and declaration of certain parliamentary results.

The constituencies under scrutiny include Nsawam Adoagyiri, Dome Kwabenya, Ablekuma North, and Okaikwei Central.

During a press conference in Accra on Friday, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa highlighted the importance of public cooperation in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. She called on citizens to help uphold peace and order during elections, emphasizing that credible elections are a collective responsibility.

“We would like to finally call on the citizens of Ghana to support us in our bid to carry out our mandate. May God bless all of you and may God bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong”

Mensa also reiterated that the parliamentary results for Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, and Ablekuma North are considered invalid. She explained that the declarations in these areas were made under duress, citing threats to electoral staff and incidents of ballot paper destruction.

The EC has not yet announced its next steps to resolve the disputes in these constituencies.
