The Chief of Kurase, Kurasehene Nana Adu-boahen has expressed disappointment in the government’s inability to fulfill its promises of developing the community of Kurase.

The community had been lacking proper developmental projects which includes roads and schools among others.

Speaking to Univers Akan desk, the Kurasehene revealed that he had to use his personal wealth to support the community.

”My people waited and called on government to fix our only road which has been deplorable for years. Nothing worthy happened, so I decided to sell my cocoa farm to gather money for the rehabilitation of the community road”.

The road linking Kurase to Kwaso through to Ejisu has remained in a sorry state for decades without any meaningful intervention.

He also revealed the predicaments that members of the community were subjected to prior to the roads’ rehabilitation.

”Residents struggled to transport farm produce including cocoa to nearby market centres owing to the challenge. School children, sick people were all living in a precarious situation as commuting became difficult after every heavy downpour. Sadly, some people lost their lives on the road over the years due to the predicament.”

Nana Adu- Boahen stated that the motivation behind the initiative was to give the people in the community a sigh of relief whilst travelling on the road.

He lamented on how the community was abandoned to such a sorry state.

“It’s mind- boggling for a community in the 21st century to continue to wallow in such deprivation as pregnant women and children are mostly transported with motorcycles.”

Owing to the failed promises politicians in the area made to the chief, he added that he would not allow any politician into his palace because they have nothing new to offer.

He went on to reveal that he would be renovating the community’s school.

”I believe they will still ride on the old lies to garner votes in the 2024 elections, a situation we cannot entertain. I am currently reshaping the primary school building because calls to authorities in the district have fallen on deaf ears.”

Kurase is a predominantly farming area which sits in the outskirts of the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti region.
