Following a 3-0 trouncing of Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park, Accra Hearts of Oak manager Aboubakar Ouattara has insisted his side are doing their best in order to survive in the league, with the Phobians three point adrift the relegation zone prior to kick off.

Hearts of Oak picked up their 9th win of the season after goals from Hamzah Issah, Linda Mtange and Kassim Cisse earned the Phobians a much-deserved three points In Berekum.

After successive defeats against Legon Cities and Accra Lions, Hearts of Oak and Aboubakar Ouattara were under immense pressure to get back to winning ways at a ground where the rainbow club has failed to win a league game since 2016.

Meanwhile, Berekum Chelsea’s unbeaten 9 home game run meant the Phobians faced an uphill task in overturning their fortunes and making things right.

Hamzah Issah’s 12th goal of the season got the visiting team up and running before Linda Mtange added to the lead just before the hour mark. Substitute Kassim Cisse grabbed the third after 83 minutes, inflicting Berekum Chelsea’s first home league loss since October 29, 2023 against Nsoatreman.

The win moves Hearts to 38 points and into 10th position, 6 points clear of the drop after previously being 3 points adrift of the relegation zone prior to kick off. A result which under fire boss Aboubakar Ouattara admits boost the Phobians chances of survival.

I expecting to win by 3 goals is football. We can win 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, but we need a point. I tell you is the mental problem. The boys are starting to understand because we have some people who want to pollute the mind of the boys. But now, the boys are starting to understand it, just psychology problem, he said

We are going to home to rest and thinking about Aduana. I’ll see the pictures, I’ll see the films, maybe I’ll thinking about the strategy but now I can’t say anything. We are trying to get maximum points to survive, he added”

Hearts of Oak take on Aduana stars after the FA Cup semi-final break on May 18, 2024.
