The stage is set for the grand finale of the University of Ghana Corporate Football League, as the 19-week-long tournament comes to an exciting close on Friday, July 25, under the floodlights at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The final showdown will feature Union Ghana taking on Ghana Civil Aviation in a headline clash for the championship title. Before that, the battle for third place will see the National Petroleum Commission face off with the Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club.

In preparation for the event, the University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate held a press briefing on Thursday morning at 9:30 AM at its conference room. The session outlined final logistical plans and entertainment activities for the much-anticipated finale.

Present at the briefing were Dr. Austin Luguterah, Director of Sports at the University of Ghana; Yaw Sakyi Afari, CEO of RITE Sports (organizers of the league); Yakubu Alfa Suleiman, Director of Operations at Corporate Sports Ghana; and other key stakeholders.

Speaking to Univers Sports, Yaw Sakyi Afari shared that both fixtures—third place and final—will feature two 30-minute halves, separated by a 15-minute break. The final event will also include short speeches from invited dignitaries such as the Vice-Chancellor of the University, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, and CEOs of participating institutions.

Security arrangements have also been enhanced for the final. “Just like last time, we’ll count on the military and their friends who’ll come not only to play but to ensure safety. The Legon Police and internal security have all been informed,” Yaw Sakyi assured.

The inaugural edition of the UG Corporate Football League began with 18 teams and has delivered weeks of thrilling action. Friday’s final promises to be a fitting climax to a tournament that has celebrated teamwork, wellness, and corporate camaraderie on campus.
