The Vice President of the University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Jeffery Adu-Yeboah, has lauded the current SRC administration for setting a new standard in policy implementation and inclusive governance.
Speaking on Campus Exclusive on Radio Univers on May 8, Adu-Yeboah expressed confidence in the administration’s performance, rating it eight out of ten for effectively delivering on its manifesto promises.
According Jeffery, no previous SRC administration has demonstrated such a strong commitment to inclusive leadership and impactful IT-related reforms.
He particularly highlighted the SRC’s bold initiative in successfully petitioning for a reduction in residential facility user fees as a key milestone. The Vice President noted that while previous attempts had failed, the current leadership’s strategic engagement with the Ministry of Education and university management led to the approval of a 25% reduction, bringing significant relief to students.
“Many doubted our petition to reduce residential fees, as past SRC efforts saw little success. But after engaging the Ministry of Education and University Management, the 25% reduction was approved. It was a huge relief for students and shows that the current SRC leadership is truly committed to protecting student interests.”
Jeffery further emphasized that the administration’s resolve to defend student interests and pursue transformative policies is what sets it apart.
“If we are being honest and objective, this administration stands out for its all-inclusive approach and ability to implement policies that address the real issues students face.”
The Vice President reaffirmed the council’s commitment to advocating for student welfare and ensuring that their voices continue to shape campus policy.
