Ishmael Fuseine and Jojo Dadson were on target for the farmers as they saw off a stiff competition from Elizabeth Francis Sey Hall who made it to the semi final for the first time in the history of the competition.
In an exclusive interview with Univers Sports after the game, Coach Ebenezer Asamoah said they were going to work on their mistakes and bounce back strong on the finals.
He revealed their consistent training and hard work aided them to secure qualification to the finals despite their unimpressive performance.
“Our secrete is training. Half of my players are always consistent at training. Every morning they train at the Athletic Oval. We are consistent, it’s all about hard work. Today I will rate my players 60 percent because they did not play to my satisfaction that is why you can see me sitting down. They didn’t play to my satisfaction. You see because of the crowd they were panicking and they were not showing that confidence they have in themselves. So we are going to prepare for the finals”
He further indicated that his side will put in their best efforts in preparations towards the finals to clinch their fifth UGFL trophy to make the people of Akuafo Hall proud.
“For the finals, we are going to prepare very well, because we know the team that we are going to face. Fans should expect a very good game, Good composure from my players. You can see today they were panicking but in the final, they are not going to see anything like that. They are going to enjoy themselves on the field” he added.
Mean while, head coach of Elizabeth Francis Sey Hall football team, Osei Kingsley said they lost to a better side even though they lost some of their key players to injury however they will correct their mistakes and do their best in the third place play-off match.
“First of all, going into the game, we had doubts, even if they could have scored because we had many of our team players injured especially our key center back who is also the leader and captain of the team. He is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. So we knew it was going to be a tough match. The results don’t seem to surprise me at all just that some of the incidents that happened during the game made me feel like we could have done something. How I expected Akuafo Hall to approach their game and take it to us, that wasn’t what they did, but all the same we give Glory and Honour to God for bringing us this far. We will go back, do our homework and prepare for the third-place match”
Most valuable player of the match, Maxwell of Akuafo hall also added
‘Just expected the best from us. We will be working on our mistakes. Getting to the later part of the game we were tired. According to the standard level we were down. We will work on the standard level and come back stronger for the final and you guys should expect the best from us. Surely we are going to take this trophy”
Akuafo hall is waiting for the winner between Legon hall and Liman Hall in the finals of this year’s UGFL which is slated for 7th July, 2023 at the UG main field.
