The University of Ghana has released guidelines and regulations for the display of campaign materials for the upcoming Students Representative Council elections.
The university has prohibited students from hanging banners or posting flyers at unauthorized locations on campus.
Any aspirant violating this rule will face a fine of GHs2000.00 and disqualification from participating in the elections.
The university has encouraged all candidates to display their campaign materials on electronic screens located on campus and within the halls of residence, with express permission from the respective Senior Hall Tutors through the Dean of Student Affairs.
The university urged students to comply with the regulations and guidelines to ensure a fair election process.
Prof. Rosina I. Kyerematen, Dean of Student Affairs, said, “It is essential that we maintain a fair and orderly election process while respecting the rules and aesthetics of our campus environment. By adhering to these guidelines, we can create a fair electoral atmosphere while preserving the beauty and cleanliness of our campus.”
The university has also urged all aspirants who have displayed campaign materials in unauthorized areas to remove them by close of day, Friday, 20th May 2022. Failure to do so will result in penalties.
The guidelines and regulations have been welcomed by students, who believe that they will ensure a fair election process.
The university has assured students that it will take all necessary measures to ensure that the guidelines are enforced.
