The women’s 200 metres event at the 2023 Inter-halls competition took place on March 17 at the Athletic Oval in the University of Ghana. 6 athletes from 4 Halls competed at the event.
The UGIS75 athletics meet ended with Mensah Sarbah hall emerging triumphant in the women’s event after winning the highest number of medals among the halls. They [Sarbah hall] were second in the over all ranking behind Akuafo hall but must be noted that their men did not compete in this year’s meet due to a suspension.
The likes of Naomi Addo of Mensah Sarbah Hall, Stella Agbopah also of Sarbah Hall, Rosemary Arthur of Akuafo hall, Delphine Sosu also of Akuafo hall are among the women athletes who distinguised themselves by breaking records and setting new ones for their respective halls.

200M
Mensah Sarbah, with Stella Agbokpah, won the 200m event with a time of 26:987. Akuafo Hall’s Delphine Dzidzinyo Sosu finished in second place with 29.486 seconds. Gloria Owusua Yartey of Mensah Sarbah completed the podium in third place with 29.570 seconds100m hurdles
On March 15 at the Athletic Oval, three participants from three different halls featured in the 100m hurdles, with a time of 20.122 seconds Akuafo Hall’s Akosua Serwaa Appa finished in first position, Vanessa Talata Azangbea clocked a time of 22.494 secs. The 3rd position went to Dorcas Boye of Legon Hall with a time of 52.624secs.
400m hurdles
Ruth Azumah of Mensah Sarbah won with 1:17:477, while the second position was taken by Akosua Serwaa Appa of Akuafo Hall with a time of 1:24:418. Margaret Darko of Mensah Sarbah followed closely on third position after clocking 1:25:242 secs.
1500m hurdles
2023 women’s 1500m saw 6 competing athletes from 3 halls, namely Akuafo, Mensah Sarbah and Legon Hall. Rosemary Arthur of Akuafo Hall emerged as the winner after clocking a time of 4:52:942. Mensah Sarbah’s Naomi Addo finished in second place with 4:58:758. Coming in third was Suweba Manga of Mensah Sarbah hall with a time of 6:55:527.
