Ghanaian football administrator Jonathan Abbey Pobi has charged the government to intervene in the appointment of a new Black Stars head coach.

Sports Minister Mustapha Yussif indicated last month that a new gaffer for the senior national team will soon be appointed by the Ghana Football Association to propel the affairs of the team.

Jonathan Abbey Pobi, an astute football administrator has called on the government to consider forming a committee to oversee the hiring of Otto Addo’s successor and ensure the right personnel is given the nod to head the team.

there must be a first committee but this first committee there must be a representative from the government of Ghana, coaches association of Ghana the technical director should be a member. Because the government has to foot the bills of the coach so they have to get a representative.

He also intimated that the coaching appointments spearheaded by GFA president Kurt Okraku in the past has failed to excel with the black stars hence urging the government to be involved this time around.

GFA president Kurt Okraku brought CK Akonnor he was managing him and what happened, after CK Akonnor he went in for coach Milo who has not worked for over twelve years he brought him  in and that one too also failed then he went to Otto Addo and what else also happened. Why should we leave appointment of coaches to these people If we don’t want to waste our resources any longer then we need the first committee. He added.

GFA vice president Mark Addo revealed after the resignation of Otto Addo following the exit of the black stars at the world cup that his outfit has initiated the process towards the appointment of a new head coach for the black stars. It is expected that the new coach will be named soon to prepare the team ahead of the AFCON 2023 qualifiers next month.
