Provost of the College of Education, of the University of Ghana, Prof. Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe has tasked student’s journalist and unit liaisons to take their work seriously.
He was speaking at the launch of the College of Education’s activities as part of the University’s 75th anniversary on the theme “Harnessing Employment and Entrepreneurship Prospects for University Graduates: Building Resilience and Embracing Technology”.
The event was attended by students journalists who were tasked to work with heads of the units from the College in various fields.
Prof. Nii Ardey urged these students to make their mark in the discharge of their duties.
According to him, this would help enhance the visibility of the College and the University as a whole.
He expressed hope in these student’s potential and appreciated them.
“My dear, School/Unit Liaisons and Student Journalists, this is a serious assignment of the College and for that matter, the University. You have been assigned to do this work because of your competencies and capacity to contribute to the College in this special way. Your work will be instrumental to the overall ranking of our college and that of the University. We are therefore proud of you and hope to see you make your mark.”
The event also saw the launch of the Multidisciplinary Journal for Distance Education Studies (MJDES).
Dean of the School of Continuing and Distance Education Prof. Olivia Kwapong stated that the journal is a testament of the effort to research excellence.
She emphasized on the journal’s wide scope and what it entails.
“The establishment of this Journal is a testament to our commitment to research excellence and our belief in the power of scholarly distance education discourse. Our esteemed team of researchers, editors, and reviewers have diligently crafted this Journal to encompass a wide range of topics relevant to distance education: from online learning methodologies and pedagogies to technology-enhanced learning; and from open educational resources to quality assurance.”
Some volunteers from Radio Univers were also inaugurated as Student Journalists of the College of Education and were tasked with various responsibilities to ensure that information related to the College’s activities are disseminated.
