The University of Ghana Students Representative Council has urged students to remain calm as they work to engage the management of the University on the recent residential fee increments.

A statement signed by the General Secretary of the SRC, Emmanuella Boakye Yiadom, on Monday, December 19, 2022, asked students to be relaxed as the council prepares to meet management as soon as possible.

“The attention of the Students’ Representative Council has been drawn to the worries of students following the increment in the residential fees for the 2022/2023 academic year. The SRC assures all students to maintain calm as the Council makes careful deliberations to engage school management on the issue as soon as possible,” the statement said.

Students at the University of Ghana have expressed immense worry after the management of the university released the academic and residential fees for the 2022/2023 academic year.

A notice from the Registrar added that, in addition to the increased residential fees,  “an additional one-time electronic access fee of GHS 300 each is being charged to residents of the traditional halls (Volta, Commonwealth, Mensah Sarbah, Akuafo and Legon halls), as a contribution towards the cost of installation and maintenance of electronic access control systems at the halls to enhance security.”
