The University of Ghana Chapter of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana on April 16, 2023, swore in newly elected executives to lead the Association for the next academic year. The ceremony, which was held at the SRC conference room was attended by both outgoing and incoming executives.

Speaking to Universnews, the new President of GRASAG-Legon, Peter Mensah,  noted that it was sheer joy when he realised that he has been given the mandate to serve the University community. He described this as a form of `motivation’ to jeer him onto greater feats.

“It’s like motivation and responsibility so what I think off is that graduate students are in the expectation that their plight as students, that they need a strong advocacy they having confidence in me and voting me into power. I will be able to, together with my executives champion some of the issues confronting the student front on campus so it serves as a great motivation to me when I realised that thousands of students are looking up to me to make a change as far as the graduate students front is concerned.”

He outlined plans to establish innovative initiatives aimed at connecting students to the job market. The initiatives will be under the four thematic areas that the GRASAG is focusing on. He further stated that the initiatives will enable students to gain practical experience and improve their skills, which will make them more attractive to potential employers.

“So we have about four thematic areas we are looking at, connecting the students to the job market through innovative initiative like what we call graduate connect initiative, we believe that student as we are on campus, obviously we are going to transit, after school what next? So it’s important we come out with initiative that will help students enter properly into the job market not only looking at government offices or government jobs but we are trying to connect the students to business systems outside campus “.
