The office of the National Chief Imam has donated beds to Akuafo Hall at the University of Ghana to express gratitude to the management of the hall for supporting Muslim students on campus and also resolving the accommodation challenges being faced in the hall.

The hall management took stock of the new beds and urged other private individuals to do the same.

These include Professor Oppong- Asante, Dr. George Kodie Frimpong, and Dr. Margaret Sumaila, the hall master, senior tutor, and deputy senior tutor respectively.

The others are; Mr. Moses Bediako, the Hall Librarian, Mr. Socrates Bankas, the Chief Hall Assistant as well as Mr. Ahmed Nii Addy an official of the Hall.

The hall master, Prof Oppong-Asante expressed gratitude to the National Chief Imam and promised continuous support for the Muslim religion in the hall.

The Senior Hall tutor, Dr. George Kodie Frimpong also spoke on behalf of the hall said this was a clarion call to other civil society organizations to partner with the University to improve infrastructure.

“We appreciate this kind gesture from the chief Imam, we can only hope that more private individuals can do the same to help the university. the University is very grateful for this and we look forward to seeing more private organizations do the same.”

The Administrative officer at the Office of the National Chief Imam, Adam Musa Abubakar who handed over the beds said the donation was the beginning of more partnerships that the Hall will receive from their outfit. According to him, the mini mosque in the hall is encouraging enough to support the gallery in all its endeavours.

“We realized there was a need, we knew we could help and this is more like a way of building a relationship between the hall and the University. This is just the beginning of other things.

What impressed me was that we went round the hall and we saw a small mosque built at the center where students gather to pray and we were very impressed we joined them to pray and that’s the reason why we want to add more to whatever they’ve done.”

Joining the Muslim students to pray, he urged Muslim students in the University to uphold peace and unity in their day-to-day activities.

“Our prayer is that the Muslims over here try and move together, that has been the cry of the leadership of the Muslim community, the Chief Imam, and the other leaders.
Isha Allah, there’s nothing that shall go wrong when we work together.”

Alhaji Adam Musah Abubakar was accompanied by Mohammed Salis Osman who is also from the office of the National Cheif Imam; Sheikh Ousman Nuhu Sharubutu.
