Management of the University of Ghana has responded to a false statement in circulation which claims that students in the Department of Computer Science are required to purchase Apple devices for their studies.

This fabricated information, attributed to a Dr. Adanna David, has been dismissed as entirely unfounded by the university.

In an urgent notice issued on October 4, 2024, by the Public Affairs Directorate, the university clarified that there is no such requirement for students in the Department of Computer Science to use specific Apple products. The notice urged students, parents, and guardians to disregard the misinformation.

“We categorically state that there is no requirement for students in the Department of Computer Science to purchase specific Apple devices for their programmes of study,” the statement read.

The university reaffirmed its commitment to a technology-driven, inclusive, and people-centered approach, ensuring that no student is disadvantaged based on the tools they use for their studies.

The notice emphasized that the university’s academic processes remain transparent and aligned with its core values.

To avoid falling victim to fabricated claims, the university advised the public to verify all information regarding its operations through official channels.
