The University of Ghana has announced that continuing students in level 200 and 300 with Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) below 1.0 will be dismissed from the University.
In a letter dated 6th October, the University’s management students in the above-mentioned levels were directed to verify their academic performance on MISWeb. The directive was intended at ensuring and promoting excellent academic performance in the school.
“With reference to Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017), on receipt of grades for all registered courses for an academic year, undergraduate students who do not achieve the stipulated minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for progression to the next level of study should be withdrawn from the university. Presently, the minimum CGPA prescribed for the above-listed Colleges is 1.00.”
“In this respect current level 200 and level 300 students are hereby directed to review their academic performance from their online provisional transcript in their MISWeb. Students who have received examination results for all 2022/2023 registered courses and obtained a CGPA below the approved minimum for their college should expect official withdrawal letters from the University via their Official UG email addresses soon.”
The CGPA minimum will also apply to courses that were taken in the previous semester in the 2022/2023 academics year.
In reference to concerns on fees paid by affected students for the current academic year, the University added that refunds on payments will be duly made upon request. Affected students were entreated to make enquiries over the issue as they fit.
“For those who have already remitted their tuition fees for the 2023/2024 academic year, please be assured that a refund will be processed upon request. We recognize the significance of this announcement and extend an invitation to any student who has questions or requires support to contact the relevant College Academic Aflairs Office. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.”
Considering the directive was mainly to affect students in the Colleges of Basic and Applied Sciences, Education and Humanities, notices on how similar students in other Colleges like the College of Health Sciences will be affected will be disseminated, according to the management.
