The Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate (PDMSD) at the University of Ghana has announced the commencement of construction of the Vice-Chancellor’s special initiative to establish Hotspot Comfort Zones in these designated areas in the university.

This is to enhance the student experience, provide convenient and comfortable spaces for students in and out of lectures.

The Hotspot Comfort Zones are strategically located across the campus to ensure accessibility for all students. Behind Balme Library, two units are currently under construction, funded through the university’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF) with Mendanha & Sousa serving as the appointed contractor. Adjacent to Maison Française, two units are being developed, while the funding for a unit near FBN Bank is still pending. Additionally, two units are planned near the N Block Enclave, with available funding secured.

Another unit will be adjacent to the Jones Quartey Building, funded through the university’s IGF and contracted to Mendanha & Sousa. An additional unit is scheduled for construction near the Central Cafeteria, with funding from the Student Representative Council (SRC). The SRC also plans to finance a unit at the Diaspora (UGEL) Halls, with details pending.

The PDMSD urges the entire university community, including students and staff, to cooperate during the construction phase.

It is essential to adhere to any temporary signage, barriers, or instructions placed in the mentioned areas.

The PDMSD assures the university community of a smooth and successful completion of the Hotspot Comfort Zones, providing a valuable asset to the university community.

Once completed, these Hotspot Comfort Zones will significantly benefit the entire university community by providing convenient and comfortable spaces for students to engage in their academic pursuits.
