The University of Ghana Appointments Board, following a delegation of authority from the University Council, has approved promotions for selected staff members to the ranks of Associate Professor and Senior Administrative positions.
In a memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar on May 7, 2026, under the subject “PROMOTIONS,” four academic staff members across various departments and research centres were promoted to the rank of Associate Professor.
The promoted academic staff members include Dr. Monica Mensah Danquah of the Department of Information Studies, who was promoted to Associate Professor in Information Science; Dr. John Saviour Yaw Eleblu of the Biotechnology Centre, promoted to Associate Professor in Plant Biotechnology; Dr. Robert Offei Manteaw of the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies, promoted to Associate Professor in Climate Policy and Sustainability Governance; and Dr. Patience Emefa Dzandza Ocloo, also of the Department of Information Studies, promoted to Associate Professor in Information Science.
The Appointments Board also approved promotions within the Administrative and Professional Senior Members category as part of efforts to strengthen institutional support services.
Among those promoted are Dr. Afua Asabea Amoabeng, who advanced to Principal Medical Officer at the Health Services Directorate; Annie Ayesu, promoted to Senior Assistant Registrar at the Registrar’s Office; Kweisi Gyesi, elevated to Senior Assistant Librarian at the University of Ghana Library System; Joanna Korlekwor Omaboe, promoted to Senior Assistant Registrar; as well as Isabella Rockson and Mary Twum-Barima, both promoted to Senior Research Development Officers at the Office of Research and Innovation.
The promotions form part of the University of Ghana’s commitment to recognising excellence, strengthening academic leadership, and enhancing administrative efficiency across the institution.
