In a grand commencement ceremony that kicked off on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the University of Ghana embarked on a week-long celebration, marking the culmination of years of hard work and dedication of graduands in the 2023 graduating class.

Amid the vibrant atmosphere, distinguished speakers graced the stage to share their insights and words of encouragement with the eager graduates. Deputy director of the Ghana Education Service, Ms. Golda Esi Andam, set the tone for the event with a powerful message.

“Do not be afraid. Never be discouraged. Do not be perturbed; rather, be bold, be curious. Be adventurous and compassionate, and above all, be yourself. May the pursuit of knowledge continue to be a guiding force in your remarkable journeys.”

As the days unfolded, the graduates were treated to wisdom for the future from distinguished finance professional, Mr. Eric Nana Nipah.

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts. I wish you all the very best in the next phase of your life as it unfolds. God richly bless you,” he encouraged the graduands, instilling a sense of resilience and determination in the hearts of the graduates.

The optimism continued to flow as seasoned public servant with expertise in corporate governance, Ms. Sandra Thompson, took the stage. She also encouraged the graduands, further entreating them to look towards the future with optimism.

“I implore you to be optimistic about the future ahead. It is a future of promise, irrespective of the global challenges and the threats of new technology. For those of you who have faith, as I do, do not forget the God factor. I leave you with this thought: remember that in God’s economy, there is room enough for each and every one of us. I wish you a very successful career ahead and a peaceful and productive life.”

The week-long celebration reached its pinnacle on Saturday, January 27, 2024, as the graduands, now armed with words of wisdom, embarked on their individual journeys.

The echoes of the speakers’ messages lingered in the atmosphere reminding the graduates to be bold, courageous, and optimistic as they ventured into the promising future that awaited them.
