Residents of Teshie have gathered in the area to protest the poor state of their roads.
The protests started on 30th May, 2023, as residents attempted to raise their concerns to the government.
These residents have been complaining over the abysmal state of the roads, which according to them has been causing many problems to pedestrians and owners of vehicles.
They stated that concerns raised in the past have been ignored by the key authorities, as the situation worsens with the frequent rainfalls.
“All we are asking for is for the road to be fixed. I visited the workshop to fix my car twice just this week. You can imagine what we are going through as residents. We have been neglected for long. The potholes are even more than galamsey sites, Just recently kumawu within two weeks roads have been fixed over there. The roads are bad. When it rains, the situation worsens. We find it difficult using this stretch. The roads are terible from here to teshie 1st junction. The roads have been in the shape for a long time but authorities are not paying attention to them.”
Meanwhile, the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly has announced that rehabilitation works on several inner roads in Teshie will be swiftly set in motion to address the concerns of the residents.
According to the Assembly, the inner roads which will be rehabilitated include those in Tsuibleoo, LEKMA to Adjorman roundabout, Fertilizer Road, and King Kortey Road among many others.
The Assembly made these revelations through the Municipal Chief Executive, Mordecai Quarshie.
“As I speak, a contractor is on-site to immediately begin work on the following roads: Tsuibleoo Road, from LEKMA to Adjorman roundabout, Fertilizer Road, King Kortey Road, which is the third road, from Mamfe Junction to Yoomo Specs, which is 1.2 kilometres long, and the Numo Mashie Road, from Mobile to Tsuibleoo Last Stop. These projects will begin immediately. However, these are not the only roads that we will be working on. Others include the entire Coffee Street and others,” the MCE, Mordecai Quarshie, told the media on Monday.”
