Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has cautioned the Black Stars to be wary of the challenge posed by Croatia as Ghana prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana has been drawn in Group L, which features European giants England, 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia, and Panama.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, face England on June 23 in Boston, and wrap up the group stage against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Kofi Adams, who jas previously expressed an open desire for the inclusion of Ghana Premier League in the Black Stars, highlighted Croatia’s unpredictability and tactical flexibility as key concerns.
“Everybody knows how dangerous Croatia have been in the previous World Cup. They have had different strategies. It doesn’t necessarily mean we should go and read their previous strategies as part of our preparation. They are a team that can change their style about three times within 90 minutes of play,” he said.
The 2026 World Cup, to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will introduce an expanded 48-team format granting Africa a record nine automatic qualification slots.
This tournament will mark Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance,!following campaigns in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022.
The Black Stars’ best performance remains their historic run to the quarterfinals in the 2010 edition hosted in South Africa.
